Human BiologyOn this page: Introduction | Programs | IntroductionCollaborative Programs of the Faculty of Arts and Science & the Faculty of Medicine Program Director: Professor J.J.B. Smith The Human Biology Specialist and Major Programs provide interdisciplinary courses of study that integrate the basic medical sciences with other life sciences. These programs build on a strong background in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics in first year. The upper years provide exposure to several disciplines within the life and basic medical sciences. The programs are designed for flexibility and broad coverage rather than as training for graduate work in specific disciplines. They can be valuable for careers where a knowledge of life science is an asset, in areas such as government, business and education. Although careful selection of courses in these programs can provide an excellent grounding for future study in health sciences, students should note specific requirements for entry into professional programs (see section on Health Science Professional Requirements). These programs are presently under review, and may change significantly in subsequent years. However, students currently in these programs, or enroling in them by June 2000, can complete them as described in this calendar.
