Hemopoiesis, lymphopoiesis, a study of the cells involved in the immune response including their ontogeny, physical and chemical characteristics, the nature of cellular interactions which govern the expression of immunity and self tolerance, the nature of the effector cells in immunity and genetic control of immune responses. Application of basic principles acquired from IMM334Y; immunological procedures used in research and diagnostic laboratories; rudiments of etiology, pathogenesis, and laboratory diagnosis of diseases of immune system; principles of immunological diagnostic procedures in some infectious diseases; instruction through lectures, practical exercises, video tapes, student presentations.
