Readings from selected authors of modern Bengali prose and poetry; introduction to samples of pre-modern Bengali texts.

Certain other courses with substantial South Asian content may be deemed South Asian Studies courses (and be included in Group A) on a case by case basis with the written approval of the Chair of the South Asian Studies program. Among these could be: certain courses offered at Erindale or Scarborough Colleges; advanced topic courses; individual/independent studies courses; research opportunity program courses; comparative, thematic or area courses allowing a particular student to concentrate study on South Asian subjects; courses previously offered listed in Group A, but no longer offered.
