DTS200Y1 An interdisciplinary introduction to the study of diaspora, with particular attention to questions of history, spatiality, globalization, cultural production and the creative imagination. Material will be drawn from Toronto as well as from diasporic communities in other times and places. DTS401H1 This will be a course using the intersections between Postcolonialism and Diaspora Studies to explore issues of place, memory, and identity. The course will be comparative and interdisciplinary with a focus on literature, anthropology, political science and cultural studies. DTS402H1 Course critically examines theoretical and methodological approaches adopted by different disciplines to the subject of Diaspora and Transnational Studies. Classes will engage with community actors and organizations and will be comparative and interdisciplinary with a focus on literature, anthropology, political science and cultural studies. |
